 The FSquared GroupFSquared is proud and excited to annouce the formation of– The FSquared Group. The FSquared Group comprises the FSquared Consultancy – a for profit company with a strong social mission; the FSquared Association– a not for profit organisation, aimed at inspiring creative thinking and at prompting exchanges between people who share our belief in ethical behaviours in the workplace and in the markets we share; and the FSquared Foundation – a charity which aims to prevent and reduce poverty through making the most of the resources and impact of organisations seeking to make a difference to people’s lives. In addition to charitable funds, the Foundation is funded through FSquared Trading, which gives it 100% of its profits, and through the consultancy, which donates 10% of its pre tax profits to the Foundation’s activities. We don’t set out to make our lives more complicated, being simple folk at heart, but during the eight years of the consultancy’s existence, some things have become very clear to us: a fee earning company is hard going. You have to keep your eye on the ball, and your foot on the treadmill at all times, to make sure that the fees coming in meet the overheads going out. The work we do achieves social impact. We make a difference to the way capital funding is used and procured, and to the way organisations contribute to society positively through their activities, but…….there’s not much wriggle room to do things that just take our fancy, that allow us to make a difference but not make money, that allow us to go the extra mile in communities where we can see we have something to offer. The consultancy is the ‘body’ that drives our vision forward, but we wanted to give it a bigger heart….. So, we revived our charity, renewed its sense of purpose, and gave it freedom to do what it wants through funding it from FSquared Trading and from the consultancy. That way, with or without other funding support, we can use our ‘heart’ to follow our heads into chances for us to leave a legacy, to make positive change, to improve the lives of real people directly , by employing the skills, abilities and experience we’ve built up over time. And then…..we wanted to influence the thinking around us. We wanted to raise the bar on ethical standards; to engage with others to make sense of ethics in the workplace and in our communities; to support people at all levels in organisations to become ethical leaders and achieve higher purpose through their activities; and we wanted to both inspire and engage in the debate which will influence the growth and impact of our market. So, we created our ‘brain’ , the FSquared Association which houses the Ethical Leadership Society, and the workshops, training, seminars, conferences, debates and community programmes designed to get people thinking and acting in ways which make positive difference. So that’s us – our body, brain and heart – the FSquared Group, seeking the spirit and soul which will come from being part of a network of like minded people who believe that organisations can make positive difference, can minimise their harm and maximise their benefit, can make the world of work an invigorating, revitalising place to be.
