Outcomes
The Need
As part of the development of proposals Jarrow Investments wanted to articulate how the Hanley Grange Eco Town would function as a sustainable community. In particular there was a need to show how the Eco Town would encourage the development of a vibrant, inclusive, cohesive and empowered community
The Response
We developed a community owned, based and run organisation model to be charged with holding the vision for the Eco Town development and ensuring that the development remains true to the principles of sustainable living. This organisation was to be called the Hanley Grange Trust. It was proposed that the Hanley Grange Trust was to be an asset owning organisation with a strong focus on community development. The Trust would use its assets to provide services to the local community and as a means for generating an income. It would deliver a range of community development initiatives which support the creation of a strong and cohesive community within Hanley Grange.
The Benefits
Our proposal was part of the overall planning application that was developed to support the Eco Town proposal. The benefit was that the final application articulated how the Eco Town would facilitate social sustainability as well as environmental and economic sustainability.
