| Project: | As part of the procurement of their private sector partner Bolton and Rochdale, Heywood and Middleton PCTs, bidders were asked to consider the inclusion of community cafes within the LIFT centres, to provide employment and training opportunities for excluded groups. In previous LIFT projects that FSquared and Eric Wright had been involved in – café spaces that were originally included were ultimately designed out due to affordability issues.
FSquared worked with Eric Wright to look at models of delivery for the community café facilities which would address affordability issues. |

Outcomes
A comprehensive report which detailed:
A financial structure by which a social/charitable enterprise could take the café space outside the PPP project
Potential activity and employment themes for the café based on consultation with the local authority and key delivery organisations in the area to determine potential activity and employment themes for the cafe
Financial appraisal of the proposed café, including a review of available grant funding
Potential delivery agents for the café from the voluntary and social enterprise sectors in the area
How Eric Wright, as the private sector partner, would support this approach.
The café space at Deeplish is currently included within the design and Eric Wright are now working with the Rochdale Mind who we engaged within the development of the report to relocate their IT internet training café to the Centre .
