Outcomes
The Need
Knutton, Cross Heath, Silverdale and Chesterton is an area that has experienced high levels of deprivation. Communities within the areas are defined by high levels of economic inactivity, low skill attainment and are amongst some of the poorest neighbourhoods in the country. There was a need for the ARF to respond to and proactively address these issues.
Our Response
The focus was to produce a strategic regeneration framework that would understand the key issues and provide context for potential development, taking history, local economy and industry into consideration. FSquared contributed to the study by providing insight and recommendations into:
managing the physical regeneration process as a means of enabling local communities to gain increased social and economic advantage
issues around wider regeneration, particularly construction skills training.
FSquared contributed to BDP’s Baseline Study and Strategic Regeneration Framework, particularly around ensuring that local people are offered increased opportunities to take an active part in the regeneration process and benefit both at an individual and community level.
FSquared’s recommendations included approaches by which public sector stakeholders could work more closely together to understand and optimise the construction skills opportunities that will be realised through the significant planned development of the area.
The Benefits
Our involvement resulted in an ARF that will facilitate wider social value for the communities of Knutton, Cross Heath, Silverdale and Chesterton.
